About Josh

Graphic Artist
Journalist
Script Writer
"Video Wizard"
Social Media Content Producer
First and foremost, Josh Arends is a story teller, communicator and visual artist who is always looking for the most attention grabbing way to deliver a customer's complex message in Sesame Street terms to a target demographic... and often with a sense of humor.

He also spent 8 years producing media for Air Force Space Command Headquarters right before it merged with the new Space Force branch of service.

Towards the end of his service, he was merged again into the photo, print journalism and media relations career field, with a heavy focus on creating social media content and managing the social media accounts for several Air Force bases.

As a side effort, he started Duct Tape & A Prayer productions in 2013, providing graphic design, documentary and media production services for businesses and non-profit organizations. Now that he is retired from military service, he continues to work as a freelance media producer.

Josh is open for remote work: video editing, photo restoration, photo animation, social media content production, script writing, creative consulting and Facebook Ad marketing. And he promises competitive pricing.
After highschool, Josh served 2 years in the AmeriCorps *NCCC program, where he discovered that, besides working with non-profit organizations, he liked shooting video depicting the before and after results of the various community service projects he worked on. In 1998, He continued to pursue graphic design and spent a year as a master control operator for a small Fox tv station during the transition from analog to digital video.

Josh later discovered there were creative video jobs in the military and served 20 years on active duty in the United States Air Force doing video production. He started with making training videos, documenting and broadcasting live events, directing talent, writing scripts, creating graphics, narrating and editing audio. Sometimes, when he couldn't get a volunteer, he acted in his own videos.

After spending a year attending the Military Motion Media program at the S.I. Newhouse School for Communications at Syracuse University, NY, which focused on Advanced Documentary and Broadcast Journalism,
he was later merged into the Broadcast Journalism career field where he was utilized as a war correspondant reporting on U.S. & NATO military efforts in Afghanistan.
